Tournament and Exhibition News
The 2012-2103 St. Patrick Varsity Boys basketball team has completed their tournament and exhibition schedule for the year. The team played int he first games in the Pinky Lewis Invitational put on by McMaster University in Hamilton, November 9-11, 2012. The team began pool play starting off against Newmarket. Adjusting to new players, systems and rotations, the Irish stuggled to execute at both ends and compounding the problem the Irish struggled in theoir basic fundamentals. In the end the team let a winnable game go by 20 points, losing to newmarket 76-56. In their next game St. Pat’s was able to regroup in a home floor invasion of Westdale from Hamilton. the team was behind early but stuck to the game plan and improved in needed areas to overcome the home team 79-63 in a game marked by 60 combined fouls between the two teams! In a rematch against J.C. Richardson whom they played in their first game of the season last year, the irish looked to build on their improvements in the second game and got off to a great start, doubling J.C. Richardson in the first quarter 22-11, however the team struggled to maintain their focus and let the game slowly slip away as they eventually were defeated 68-62. The team will play their next game, an exhibition game versus Holy Cross from Kingston at home on November 17th at 4:00pm. The following weekend, November 24-25, the team is pleased to host their first ever senior boys tournament in an 8 team tournament.
